Join leaders and advocates from across the Bay Area at our biannual State of the Region event to explore the implications of the election results and identify strategic opportunities for taking back our region from the tech oligarchs.

The Bay Area is once again at a crossroads. In one direction lies the consolidation of corporate power, personified by an axis of right-wing tech elite who have translated their economic power into political and cultural power. In the other, we find a complex, dynamic populism, driven by a potent mix of anger, despair, hope, and audacity.

At the State of the Region, we’ll confront what’s at stake — and begin charting a path toward the future we want.

The event will begin with a keynote by Alameda County Supervisor Nikki Fortunato Bas. She believes deeply in people-powered government and has championed immigrant and refugee rights, affordable housing solutions, early childhood education, and equitable access to healthcare.

There will also be two panel discussions:

  • Reclaiming the Future: Building a regionalism to counter elite power and growing inequality
  • Growing Our Power: Implications of the elections for creating the communities we want

We are grateful to our event sponsors for making this convening possible: Blue Shield of California Foundation, Common Counsel Foundation, Destination Home, and Sobrato Philanthropies.

Be sure to register today – we’ll see you in Oakland on November 18th!
