Announcing the State of the Region Keynote: Supervisor Nikki Fortunato Bas!
We are excited to announce Alameda County Supervisor Nikki Fortunato Bas as our keynote speaker for State of the Region 2026, taking place on November 18th in Oakland. We hope you’ll join leaders and advocates from across the Bay Area to explore the implications of the election results and identify opportunities for taking back our region from the tech oligarchs.
A lifelong community organizer and policy advocate, Supervisor Fortunato Bas is the first Filipino-American elected to represent Alameda County and Oakland, where she previously served as a City Councilmember and the President of the Oakland City Council.
Since joining Alameda County’s Board of Supervisors in January 2025, Nikki has continued to champion immigrant and refugee rights, affordable housing solutions, early childhood education, and equitable access to healthcare. She believes deeply in people-powered government and engaged the community to advocate and win a historic $1.4 billion county investment in homelessness solutions through Measure W.
The Supervisor’s keynote will tee up a dynamic panel discussion on the rising corporate influence on Bay Area politics and the implications for how communities are building power to advance housing and transportation justice.
Mark your calendar for November 18th and stay tuned for early registration information soon!
