Members of the Transportation Justice Working Group, MTC's Minority Citizens Advisory Committee and other residents spoke about MTC's lack of compliance with Federal Environmental Justice and Civil Rights Laws.

Climate Change and Equity Presentation
Urban Habitat co-presented with the Director of the Environmental Justice and Climate Change Initiative Director, Nia Robinson, at the Transportation and Land-Use Coalition's 2007 Annual Summit. The presentation focused on how low-income communities and communities of color in the Bay Area contribute the least to climate change and yet are most adversely impacted by climate change and the land-use and transportation patterns that propel climate change. The presentation concluded with various efforts underway to address both equity and climate change. Download the pdf of the presentation!

Leaders from Bay Area grassroots organizations and the Minority Citizens Advisory Committee (MCAC) to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) addressed the media regarding MCAC’s Environmental Justice (EJ) Principles which MTC has so far refused to adopt and implement.
